Ailene deVries is a Toronto based visual artist who uses photography, bookmaking, and found images and practices to create space for women and non-binary identities. Ailene deVries uses the image and craft in unison to explore and contest the traditions and histories of creative women. She can often be found searching for four-leaf (or more) clovers or interesting flowers, whether to press or use to create cyanotypes. Ailene deVries graduated Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2018 and will be continuing her studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Fall, 2019.
